DP83848I: Can 2 Ethernet PHY connect with each other through a transformer

Hi team,

My customer is using DP83848. But customer wants to put the other side PHY on the same board with DP83848. And customer wants to directly use a transformer to connect between them instead of using RJ45 cable. The block diagram is as below: The left side is current mode PHY and the right side is voltage mode PHY. Do you think this is workable? Thanks.

Hi Wayne,

Apologies for the delay. Rather than use a transformer, AC coupling caps can be used between the two PHYs on the same board (PHY <-> capacitor <-> PHY).
