DS90C385A: Questions on User's Guide - SNLA014A

Part Number: DS90C385A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN75LVDS83B

Hi,

We have a question in the application note SNLA014A. In Page  3, Figure 3 is mentioned as JEIDA/Format 1. I guess that it's a typo and it must be VESA(MSB on the 4th channel of LVDS must be VESA only). The text above figure 3 had also mentioned JEIDA instead of VESA. Could you please confirm?

SNLA014A document mentions Format 1 as JEIDA and Format 2 as VESA. But in SN75LVDS83B's datasheet, on Page 21, Format 1 is mentioned as VESA and Format 2 as JEIDA. Why format numbering had been switched? Isn't it a standard? Kindly enlighten us.

  • Hello Esakki,

Throughout the industry there are many conflicts with the naming conventions for LVDS between VESA, JEIDA, JEITA, OLDI, etc. Between vendors is is common to see these names swapped. What we would recommend to avoid issues is to go by the bit mapping diagrams rather than the naming conventions since there are issues like this with continuity of naming convention.

    Best Regards,

    Casey
