TCAN1145-Q1: request schematic review

Part Number: TCAN1145-Q1

Dear Sir,

Could you please review attached schematic of my customer.

TCAN1145_schematic.pdf

Thanks.

  • Hello,

Pins on schematic match pinout on datasheet: Correct

Resistors and Capacitors on Wake PIN and VSUP : Good, we recommend that a 22 nF capacitor is connected to the wake pin but the value you have is close enough.

Decoupling Capacitors Included and Valued Well: Correct

VIO pin and VCC have power: Incorrect, VIO should not be left floating. It is used to support the SPI pins. Whatever voltage you are using to power the CAN MICOM you can connect directly to the VIO pin.

Also if the WAKE pin is not used you can just connect it to ground. This would save buying some components. You would still need a decoupling cap on the VSUP pin.

    CAN Bus

Split Capacitor, and Termination resistors included and valued well: Correct

TVS diodes included: Correct, Make sure the placement is close and along the signal path.

CMC included: Not Optimal, the CMC should be placed between the transceiver and the termination resistors. In the orientation you have the termination resistors are placed between the transceiver and the CMC.

    Best,

    Chris
