Hello Kailyn,
Here is an excerpt from the USB Type-C PD spec which discusses the communication for SOP' and SOP'' messaging.
Hi Adam,
Thank you for your reply, our customer hopes to know which register could get the SOP" information.
He has confirmed 0x49 RX Identity SOP’, what about SOP"?
Best regards
Kailyn
Hi Kailyn,
Unfortunately, the TPS65988 does not have a register for an external MCU to read the contents for the SOP". However, these type of messages are rarely used and the information read from the SOP' will be identical to what is read in SOP". Is there a specific reason why the customer is asking for the ability to read SOP" messages?
Hello Adam,
Thank you for your reply. I have confirm with our customer. His reply is as following:
1. 0x49 RX Identity SOP' Register , is this the SOP' messages?
2. What steps are required when switching UFP,DFP and DRP? It is not normal if changing 0X28 directly to switch UFP,DFP and DRP.
3.I need to read the E-Maker content at both ends of the connector.
Best regards
Kailyn
Hi Kailyn,
Find my answers to your questions below:
1. 0x49 RX Identity SOP' Register , is this the SOP' messages?
Yes, this register shows the information that was read during the SOP' communication
2. What steps are required when switching UFP,DFP and DRP? It is not normal if changing 0X28 directly to switch UFP,DFP and DRP.
So if the customer wants to switch their current negotiated data role to either UFP or DFP, they will need to use the 4cc commands ‘SWDF' and ‘SWUF’ which are explained further within the host interface technical reference manual
3.I need to read the E-Maker content at both ends of the connector.
But my question is why does the customer need to read the e marker on the other end of the cable? As I mentioned earlier, the TPS65988 does not have a register that shows the contents read from a SOP'' message. However, this should not effect a customers system as they can get the relevant information in the SOP' message
