DS90UB953-Q1: Two CSI-2 sensors in same serializer

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1

Hi,

I am using two CSI-2 sensors in conjunction with two DS90UB953 serializers and one DS90UB954 deserializer. But I have seen the same setup has been done using only one Serializer. How to achieve this? Is there any extra ICs I have to use?

N.B.: Both sensors are the same model and have support up to CSI-2 2 lane output.

Thanks,

Mizan

  • Hello Mizan,

The only way to achieve this is to use additional devices. Take the output of the 954 in your current setup into the input of another 953 and then that 953 would be carrying 2x imager's data which could connected to yet another downstream DES. There is no way to split a MIPI port on the 953 into 2x2 inputs to accept two different sensor's data.

  • (Edit: I know I have to use additional devices. That's why I asked which ICs I need to use.... to bridge those sensors and split those sensor data after the deserializer)

The surprising thing is the 'there is no way' thing is right now on my hand. they have used some part called ____________ (about which I could not find any info on the net) as a sensors bridge. I already have found an IC like this (supports 2x720px60FPS) but it can't provide the high data rate transfer (2x1080px60FPS) that I need.

    Thanks for replying

  • Hello Mizan,

What I'm saying is that there is no way to achieve this with only the SERDES devices you mentioned in your first post. If there are other external devices which can be used to combine two sensor's data into one CSI-2 interface (like an ISP function), then that would be outside of the scope of the FPD-Link products and what we have in our current portfolio (aside from the multi-chip solution which I provided in my previous post).
