TPS25810: TPS25810 CC length

Part Number: TPS25810

Hi Team,

About TPS25810, could you give some comments on what’s the requirement on the length on CC lines? Is it just 1-2inches?

On our application, the length of CC lines are around 14968 um.

On the other hand, about 10uf output cap, how far can we place it from USB connector?

Thanks!

Zhizhao

  • Hi Zhizhao,

1-2 inches is the max for the CC lines so your length of 14968 um is fine. If you have multiple via hops with the CC lines, I would recommend using an 8 or 10 mil trace, because the CC lines can be used to supply VCONN.

    Thanks,

    Emma

  • Hi Emma,

Thanks! And how about 10uf output cap, how far can we place it from USB connector?

  • Hi Zhizhao,

Please place the 10uf output cap as close to the Type-C connector as possible.

    Thanks,

    Emma

  • Hi Emma,

add one more questions. Sorry for the confusion, the long the of cc lines is about 16.8cm... I think it is longer than the datasheet limited value.
    1. could you tell me how to check the VCCON function is enable or disable?

    2. Can we disable VCONN supply by configure the type-C PHY? Because we learned that VCONN used for active USB cable power supply. If we don’t use active cable, can we disable VCCON function?

    3. And if we disable the VCCON function, only use CC lines as communication line whether the long CC line(16.8cm) is a issue or not?

    thanks!

  • Hi Zhizhao,

    1. VCONN is enabled or disabled based on the cable pull down value. See the detecting a connection below and the CC1/CC2 pull down values corresponding to whether or not VCONN is supplied.

    2. If an active cable is not used, VCONN will not be supplied.

    3. What thickness are you using for this trace?

    Thanks,

    Emma
