  • Hi Maynard,

Can customer confirm that TUSB564 I2C is enabled by using an external I2C master?

  • HI Malik,

    Apologies for the late response.

It seems that customer tried different approach, can you please confirm if this possible. Below is the customer response.

"Hey there, interface is just a bit tricky. So I did make an order for a USB to ISS Adapter (I2C, SPI, Serial) so I can make contact with the device. Is this necessary? The engineer I am working with said it would be required to see the state of the Dev Board. Do let me know, thank you. Here is a link to what I purchased: https://acroname.com/store/r348-usb-iss "

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Maynard

  • Hi Maynard,

Correct a external I2C master like that can be used. This will help to understand the state of the device once tablets are connected. Also is the board being external powered?

  • Hi Malik,

Good day, apologies for the late response, I just received response from customer. Below is the details.

"So did some testing, and used comm operator to attempt to connect to the board
Running any code gives us "FF ", meaning I am properly connected to the i2c.

I did tests both with power on, and off.

Can you recommend something else? Or some other solution to get the board running?

All wiring is based on user guide instructions."

    Regards,

    Maynard

  • HI Maynard,

Not sure the customer is seeing the device though I2C. Can they try reading register 0x00 form address 0x0F, make sure pin configuration matches table 1 from EVM users guide. Can we confirm VCC is at 3.3V? Reading register 0x00 will ensure the part is in I2C and responding to the correct I2C address such that the PD controller can configure the device based on the Type-C connection.

  • Hi Malik,

Good day, I just received response from the customer that the even following the resolution provided here, the EVM still not working. Now, the customer requesting to return/refund the said device.

     Regards,
    Maynard

  • Hi Maynard,

Was customer not able to connect through I2C? I would recommend putting a customer support request on ti.com for issues revolving around returns.

  • Hi Malik,

    Thank you for your response.

Yes according to the customer, they were not successful in working with the EVM and would like for return/replacement of the device. For us to proceed the process in the customer support, we need your approval on this.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Maynard

  • Hi Maynard,

Let move to internal email to discuss more details. I do not see issue with giving customer a replacement board.
