TPS25750EVM: Error Flashing to Device

Part Number: TPS25750EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3255EVM, TPS25750

Hello,

I have purchased the TPS25750EVM and just received it today. I tried to flash the settings using the online/offline application, but I wasn't able to flash the device using any of the apps.

My offline app indicates that the hardware is connected to the device through a COM9 port,  but when I try to flash it, it gives me an error saying power cycling is needed for the board.

I just connected my board using a regular micro USB cable and I haven't changed any jumpers. I'm trying to use the TPS25750EVM to power TPA3255EVM, but I'm stuck at step 1.

Is there any setting that I could have missed out? I'm not using any USB hubs from my computer. The micro USB cable is directly connected from my desktop's mainboard USB 2.0 port.

Also, I have an additional question about powering my AMP EVM. If I connect 20V/5A USB PD power supply using USB C, Should I jump wires from the PPHV pins to my audio AMP board?

  • Brian,

The EVM needs to be powered in order to be able to program the flash.  The two possible input power paths are the type C connector or the Dell type power jack.  If one of these two sources of power is connected and a blue led next to the connector will turn on to tell you that the board is powered.

Once one of these two conditions is met, you will be able to program the eeprom.

  • Hi Chuck,

Thanks so much for the answer. Now everything is working well.

Now I got it to work for several USB C PD chargers, but whenever I connect the chargers, I'm hearing a high frequency switching noise from the EVM and I'm not sure where it's coming from.

My setting is power sink at 100W without using battery chargers or data. So I'm assuming only the TPSP25750 is on. Does the TPS25750 usually make switching noise  or is it a problem only for my EVM?

    Best regards

    Brian
