DP83826E: termination resistor

Part Number: DP83826E

Hi,

What do you recommend to modify from my schematic? It was designed for a DP83822.

1) Does DP83826 require termination components (49.9R resistor) near the RD_P, RD_N and TD_P, TD_N signals?
I see in the DP83826EVM demoboard schematic that they are not present.

2) Also i see that the magnet central is not connected to VCC.

3) The termination resistors on the MII signals I see are mounted with value 0R0: are they internal to the PHY?

Thanks

Robert

  • Hello Robert,

Yes we have inbuilt driver termination and you may populate 0ohms instead of 50ohms.

DP83826's (voltage mode driver) magnetic side connection are very differnet from DP83822's (current mode driver). There is no need of 49.9ohms terminations also on DP83826's TD_* and RD_* pins.  I recommend to have a look at the datasheet for DP83826's connections (figure : TPI Network Circuit).

  • Thanks Vikram.

One last question: are there special parameters for voltage driving or are they the same used for current driving?

Do you have a Wurth electronic code to recommend?

  • Hello Roberto,

822's and 826's will both have similar voltage swings etc as they are dictated by IEEE standard itself. We dont have any shortlisted or specially recommended Wurth's component as of now but any magnetic meeting specification of datasheet should be ok.
