TPS65987D: Reconfigure in runtime?

The configuration that is programmed into SPI flash, can all the parameters be changed afterwards?

What I am trying to understand is that if we program our device TPS65987D as a DisplayPort Source in SPI flash, can we later reconfigure it to a USB Super Speed DFP or UFP in runtime?

Hi,

Yes, you can by placing the GUI in debug mode.

Say you started as DFP in the port config and DFP_D in Display Port Capabilities, you can change it to UFP and UFP_D on the fly in debug mode.

I assume debug mode is when you are controlling the EVM via the GUI, right?

But how do i do that on my own board? Do i have different profiles somehow on the SPI flash that i can switch between in runtime?

Hi M,

Yes. You can still use the GUI if you have Aardvark connection to your board. Our GUI supports Aardvark adapter, you can see that under Adapter menu in the GUI.

Hi Peter,

Well when the board is at the end customer there is no way of hooking up a GUI via a Aardvark connection.

I was more thinking of having two different profiles in SPI memory or if you could address it via the host processor and reconfigure the TPS65987D.

I assume this is not possible?

Hi M,

These are I2C registers, so if they have EC connected to the PD they can write to the registers without using the GUI.
