TUSB4041I: Questions about the configuration

Part Number: TUSB4041I

Hi,

I have few questions about TUSB4041I this part:

1. What does personal power control mean? What is the difference between the two?

0 = Individual power control supported when power switching is enabled

1 = Power control gangs supported when power switching is enabled

 2. Port 1 and port 4 add USB current limit, Port 2 and Port 3 have no USB current limit, then should I set FUllPWRMGMTz this pin to be high or low?

 3. If  there is no need to have USB battery charging, then PWRON1_BATEN1/ PWRON2_BATEN2/ PWRON3_BATEN3/ PWRON4_BATEN4 should set to low. Is that correct?

Thanks.

  • Hi Jack,

    1.  Individual port power control means that each ports power is controlled individually.  Ganged port power control means that 2 or more ports are controlled by a single power switch.

    2. If any of the ports do not have port power control ( port power always on), FULLPWRMGMTs should be high.

    3.  If battery charging is not needed, the internal pulldowns on the PWRONx pins will disable battery charging.

    Regards,

  • HI JMMN,

    Thanks for the reply.

I have a follow up question for question#3. If battery charging is not need, which will leave the PWRONX_BATENX pin floating (internal pull down), then when we are selecting current-limiting power switch devices, the EN pin should be high enable or low enable in order to have the output from the current-limiting power switch?

  • Hi Jack,

The polarity of the PWRONx_BATENx pins can be adjusted using the PWRCTL_POL pin.  It can be set to either either active high or active low.

    JMMN
