DP83869HM: Transformer Selection

Hello, I have both 1G PHY and 10G PHY used on my design. I have a question about the transformer.

Can the transformer for 10GBASE-T work all the way down to 1GBASE-T speed? Can I use the 10G transformer for both 10G PHY and 1G PHY?

Hi Alice,

I would recommend that you compare the DP83869PHY datasheet specifications when using a transformer (10.2.1.2.2 Magnetics Requirements).

Compare those electrical parameters with the ones from the 10G transformer datasheet.
