TUSB8042A: Inquiry on TUSB8042A

Part Number: TUSB8042A

Dear TI Experts,

Below are my questions regarding TUSB8042A:

1. I would like to ask what is the specific function of pin 49 (TEST) of TUSB8042A. I believe these are reserved for factory tests, but what specific factory test? A scenario example will be good.

2. Pin 49 (TEST) requires an external pull-down. But what are the consequences of leaving this pin floating?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Jonard Rico

  • Hello Jonard,

The test pin, TEST, puts the device in the mode for TI factory production test.  In this mode, the hub no longer functions as a hub and the pins have reassigned functions.  It is not useful outside of the TI factory.

We require the TEST pin to be pulled low to prevent an accidental entry to test mode.

    Regards,
