Hi Charley;  I found this link:  DS90UH947-Q1: can uh serializer use with ub deserializer which states:  Yes, you can use a UH and UB part linked together but you will have to disable the HDCP in the UH parts registers.

I have asked for additional details on the link issue.

Hi  Chariey:  The nature of the issue is they are isseeing about 50% errors on the back channel using the UB as compared to the same circuit using the UH.  Customer also advised they are battling a manufacturing issue with paddle re-flow, and have made some progress with re-flowed parts.  They are now asking for a better explanation of what the 'UB929 0x5B, FPD3_COAX_ MODE bit is actually doing in the IC?  Note:  They are operating in a power over coax setup.

UB vs UH should not cause this issue.

I will look into this and get back to you.
