THVD1452: RS422/RS485 Selectable IC Suggestion

Hi,

I would like to use the THVD1452 IC for my encoder interface application. I have 2 different types of encoder, one of them is half duplex (RS485, A and B out) other one is full duplex (RS422- A,B,Y,Z out). I need to use single transceiver for this application. I just want to change connector output of the transceiver. So can I use the THVD1452 IC for this application ?

    Hi Alikaan,

    It is possible to let a full-duplex device such as THVD1452 operate as a half duplex device by shorting the buses (A-Y and B-Z) to form a half-duplex bus. If there is a way you can make this connection on the board when it is necessary, I see no issue using this device to interface with both types of encoders.
