DS90UB964-Q1: DS90UB964 compatibility with DS90UB953?

Hello,

DS90UB953-Q1 serializer datasheet says that it is compatible with the 964 deserializer, however I found some E2E forum posts stating that those products are not compatible. Can you please clarify? How can I figure out which chips are compatible with each other?

Hello Antonio,

Yes, you can pair the UB964 with the UB953.

The UB964 datasheet was not updated since few yeears hence the compatibilty is not mentioned their but only in the UB953 datahseet.

Thanks for the information. Which feature set of the 953 is available when connected to the 964?

I found this app note regarding 953/934 combo - https://www.ti.com/lit/an/snla270a/snla270a.pdf?ts=1620059500344&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.google.com%252F. It mentions that the CSI-2 link modes are not available in the backwards compatible mode, is this restriction also for the 953/964 combination?

Hello Antonio,

Correct, the UB964 does not support the CSI Synch or CSI-Non-Synch modes.

Please refer to the UB964 datasheet to see what features it can support.
