TPS25750: Unused pins

Part Number: TPS25750

When using this part at a Downstream Facing Port (DFP) only, and providing 5V, I don't believe we will need to use the PPHV pins or the VBUS_IN pins.

Can you advise on the recommendations on how to terminate this unused path?  Can we float the pins or should we tie them to ground?

  • David,

You will still need to connect the VBUS_IN pin to VBUS.  These pins should always be connected together.

If you are using the part as only a 5V DFP, then the TPS25750 might not be the best option.  What type C features are you using on your port.  I may want to suggest another option.

Any unused pins can be floated or connected to ground through a weak pull-down.  I suggest the pulldown rather than a short in case you provide a bad configuration.  The pulldown will ensure that the part does not brown out.

    Regards,

    Chuck
