The difference between 929 and 949 is that 929 supports single FPD-Link only, while 949 can support either single or dual link. So yes, 949 can be used in place of 929, but for the other way around, you would need to verify that the video link can fit the bandwidth of single FPD-Link if the system was previously using dual.
