TPS65988DK: Boot from flash

Hi Team,

To boot from flash are there any specific requirements with the pullup/pulldown resistors? Below is my customer's current setup. They are unable to get the PD controller to boot from flash. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

They definitely do not have the correct resistors populated for the SPI Flash to work.

The diagram below shows the SPI flash to 988 connections from the EVM that have all of the correct resistors in place.

Hi Chuck,

My customer tried those resistor settings as well and still no go. On plugging they are monitoring the clock and chip select and no action at all. It's like the PD chip is not even attempting to communicate with the SPI Flash on startup. Are there any other settings in the chip that could cause this behavior? We have I2C access to the chip and can read/write to it.

There are several things that can cause the part not to boot.

Can you send me a PDF of their board through private channels so I can look at what configurations are set?

Hi Chuck,

I think we found the problem. Once they changed the setting on pin ADC1 to 0.9 instead of 0.2 or 0.4 then it worked. Do you know why those settings would not work? I assumed they would wait for 3.3V to show up and then load a configuration.

Mitchell,

The ADC pins are read very early on as part of the power up sequence. They will not be read before either VIN3V3 or LDO_3V3 are powered up
