DS90UB949-Q1: for LVDS interface, does it need add common inductor and TVS?

Part Number: DS90UB949-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ESD122

Hi team,

customer design DS90UB949-Q1, they have a question about the LVDS interface. they would like add common inductor to redece the noise and TVS for protection, see the below picture,

we have two quesitons:

1. for common inductor, is it ok ? #PN is IND,CM,90Ω,DLW21SN900HQ2,280,MURATA

2. for the TVS, Is it needed in 949 application? PN# of TVS is DIODE,TVS,PESD5V,5V,SOD882,0.85pf

if no, why?thank you.

  • Hello Betty,

    1) The "DLW21SN900HQ2" is the CMC we use on our EVMs, so this is okay.

    2) I can see in the datasheet that this diode has 35pF capacitance which is very large. You can use one of these two diodes:

The ESD122 , it protects up to 17KV, but it has a dual channel (Non AEC-Q)
The TPDxE05U06-Q1. It has ESD protection up to 15KV (AEC-Q)

You can find our device's ESD rating in the datasheet section "6.2 ESD Ratings". Using or not using an ESD diode depends on the customers requirements, if our datasheet rating is not sufficient for them then they have to use an extra ESD diode, other wise ESD diode is not required.
