ISOUSB211: High-speed USB isolator availability and ESD resilience

Part Number: ISOUSB211

Hello,

I'm looking for a high-speed (480 Mbps) USB isolator for a a design I'm just beginning work on. I've noticed you have got a preview part that seems to do what I'm after - ISOUSB211.

Could you tell me:

  • Is there an expected date for availability in the UK?
  • Does it have an ESD rating as per IEC 61000-4-2 level 4 (±15 kV air discharge/±8 kV contact discharge). The datasheet only specifies HBM and CDM.
  • Would you expect such a rating to be achievable on the circuit level with additional protection circuitry? (i.e. could the isolation barrier itself withstand such a discharge, even if specific inputs need protection)
  • Do you have any other solutions for isolation of high speed USB?

I'd be very interested in designing with this part, but I'm currently a little concerned about likely availability and would need to be sure of this before choosing it.

Many thanks

  • Hi Philip,

Thank you for reaching out to us!

I'm sorry that we do not disclose the availability through public domain.

Please reach out to your local representative for the availability of ISOUSB211DP.

It potentially has the ability to meet the IEC61000-4-2 level-4 requirement with additional protection circuitry, and we are in the process of validating the performance.

ISOUSB211DP is the only high-speed isolated USB repeater currently available at TI.

    Regards,

    Alfred
