Hi,
I would also like to receive Altium files for the reference design.
In the datasheet layout example it states that 10nF and 1uF decoupling capacitors should have 2-4mm distance to each other (edge to edge), but in the reference design layout the distance doesn't look that long. I don't know if the distance is critical. Also in the reference design 10nF capacitors seem to be on top of related IC pads, which is interesting and indicates that distance from IC pads to 10nF capacitor is critical. Any comments? vs
Thanks,
Olli-Pekka
Hi Olli-Pekka,
Thank you for reaching out.
The distance between 10nF and 1µF (or 10µF) of 2mm to 4mm helps improve efficiency by about 1% and there is no other impact, therefore, this spacing is non-critical. We definitely do not want the spacing to increase higher than 4mm which otherwise could affect the supply voltage ripple. Please see below a snippet from an app note (link follows) on this topic.
I am also attaching the gerber files of ISOW7741DFMEVM for your reference. Thanks.
