isolated I2S with 24MHz CLK

Good day colleagues,

My customer wants to isolate I2S bus for codec with CLK up to 24MHz.

Could you tell me what our isolators are the best choice for reliable 24MHz clock transmitting?

Thank you, Mikhail

  • Hi Mikhail,

Thank you for posting to E2E! To transmit a unidirectional 24MHz CLK (48Mbps), either our ISO67xx family of devices or ISO77xx family of devices are recommended -- the ISO77xx family supports higher datarates and has more channel configurations available than the ISO67xx family.

Both of these device families use CMOS inputs, and I2S is a TTL-logic protocol. This is not expected to be a problem, but please confirm the output levels of the surrounding devices and CLK to ensure they are compatible with the isolator's input thresholds. If this is a concern, our ISO7640FM can be used, which is an older isolator, but it features TTL inputs and outputs.

    Respectfully,
    Manuel Chavez

  • Good day Manuel,

Thank you! I will offer these two devices.
