ADS1115-Q1 System ESD and BCI Test

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1115-Q1, ADS1115

Hello,

Customer uses ADS1115-Q1 and performed system ESD and BCI (Bulk Current Injection) Test, and failed as follows.

(Resistor settings are as attached file.)

4101.ADS1115-Q1_Registor_Settings.pdf

ESD Test:

ADS1115-Q1 output FFFFh when ESD is applied to system.

ADS1115-Q1 output returns to normal conversion results sometimes after ESD is applied, and continue to output FFFFh sometimes.

Analog input voltage is 1V to 2V (Single ended input) and it should not output FFFFh.

Please advice possible cause of FFFFh and how to investigate countermeasure.

BCI Test:

Sometimes I2C communication is stopped.

For investigating the cause, please advice possible cause and how to check it.

* If you need additional information, please let me known.

Best Regards.

Can you get a detailed description of these two tests? What is the value of the ESD voltage, how long is it applied, where is it applied, etc. For the BCI test, I would recommend that they measure the SCL and SDA pins and the voltage they are being pulled up to during this test. It might be that they are not reaching the low threshold on the I2C bus because of extra voltage caused by this current injection.
