Q6:

They can be detected, however the MCU is in RESET when NRES is low and cannot read them.

⇒Customer understand that MCU can’t read.

Additionally they want to know NRES_ERR and ENDRV_ERR flags are set inside the device.

Q7:

What may stop, ie what is “it”? We need clarification on the question.

⇒My question is that ABIST may stop in RESET state or not.

Hi Ushikubo-san,

A4:

We see the ENDRV_ERR pin reflecting a mis-match in DIAGNOSTIC and SAFE state when we run it in our lab. Procedure and results summarized below:

GUI Started, wake TPS65381 up with IGN

Device put in diagnostic state and held there with auto diag exit mask

Auto update was enabled in the GUI

5V applied to the ENDRV pin

ENDRV ERR flag was set in the GUI

5V remoed from ENDRV pin and ENDRV ERR flag was cleared in the GUI

put device to standby by deasserting IGN

wake device up with CANWU, then set CANSTB to force to safe state

5V applied to the ENDRV pin

ENDRV ERR flag was set in the GUI

5V remoed from ENDRV pin and ENDRV ERR flag was cleared in the GUI

A6: yes the bits will be set, but not readable until NRES is released

A7: if ABIST is running and a RESET condition occurs the ABIST will stop, and restart in the RESET state if AUTO_BIST_DIS is 0.

Hi Ushikubo-san,

The answers are:

A4: checked in lab, ENDRV_ERR = High is shown in safe state. I'm not sure what the thinking was when this form was filled out originally by another person, but maybe they interpreted the question incorrectly. ENDRV_ERR = high is also shown in safe state

A6: yes, the flags are set in the device, but until however the MCU is in RESET when NRES is low and cannot read them.

A7: Maybe there is a misunderstanding on what ABIST Stop means. You cannot manually stop ABIST in reset state so it is NA. If the question is does ABIST run in Reset state (to completion) then it is A. The title is "ABIST Stop" so we may be unclear what this actually means.
