SN74LV245A: Unused I/O floating Issues : Schematic review

Part Number: SN74LV245A

Hi Team,

The customer handled unused I/O as floating.

As a result of the review, the customer handled unused I/O as floating.

So, we connected B6,B5 which is floating in the input part to B4, and B1 to GND.

I connected A6 and A5 which are floating in the output part with A4 and A1 with GND.

Input B4 will be applied with VCC or GND voltage depending on the situation.

Please review the revised schematic.

  • Unused inputs indeed must be connected to a valid logic voltage (VCC or GND).

Unused outputs can simply be left open.

Using multiple parallel outputs for one signal is usually done only when you want to increase the drive strength. Due to the faster rise/fall times, this might increase EMI.
