SN74F541: Logic compatibility with XC7A200T

Part Number: SN74F541
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AHCT541

Hello Guys,

Good day.

Need your help to confirm logic compatibility between these two parts:

XC7A200T-2FBG676C-LVCMOS (Driver) (VOH&VOL: 2.9 & 0.4) and SN74F541DW-LVCMOS (Receiver) (VIH&VIL: 2 &0.8)
They are actually compatible right? (voh>vih & vol<vil)
Our customer doubts is if its really necessary to check voh(receiver)>=vih(driver)?

Thanks and regards,

Art

  • Yes, they are compatible. Please note that the 2.9 V / 0.4 V values are specified for the maximum load current; when connected to a CMOS input (without any other load), the actual voltages will be near the rails, and checking the input thresholds is not necessary for devices with the same supply voltage.

The SN74F541 is a very old device with horrible power consumption. If you want to convert from 3.3 V to 5 V, use a CMOS buffer with TTL-compatible inputs like the SN74AHCT541. Do you need all eight channels?
