LSF0108: Unused pins consult

Part Number: LSF0108

Hi Team,

Customer is consulting whether they can float those unused pins, like An and Bn pins in their design? What's our recommendation here, tie all the pins with GND?

Best,

Stanley

  • Hi Stanley,

For the LSF family of translators, it is best to ground unused channels. This can be done on only one side or on both sides of a channel.

Leaving the pins floating will not damage the device, however it is not recommended.

Unused channels _can_ be connected to ground, but it is not 'best' or necessary. Unused channels can also be left floating, or connected to VCC. The most important thing would be to _not_ connect one side of a channel to GND and the other side to VCC. This would cause basically a short circuit and damage to the device.
