TXB0104: Signal integrity problems when using this part as SPI level shifter 3.3V <-> 5V

Part Number: TXB0104
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXU0304, TXU0204

Hi there!

We have designed a prototype with the TXB0104D as a level converter for SPI (MOSI, MISO, SCK) bus.

On the high side, we drive a CAN controller and a display (through a 20cm ribbon cable).

On the low side, we also have different IC's on the bus and the microcontroller itself.

We already lowered the SPI speed to around 100kHz to get better signal integrity but it doesn't help to get it (the display) working properly.

Yet, the signal is better (according to scope measurement) as with a speed of 8MHz.

We have no pull-up or pull-down resistors on high or low side, CS's does have a pull-up.

Have we chosen the wrong part for our use case?

What could we do to improve signal integrity on the high side?

Unfortunately, a cable to the display is required.

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Alex
