SN74AHC1GU04: SPICE Model for Pierce-Gate Oscillator Simulation

Part Number: SN74AHC1GU04

Can TI provide me with a real SPICE model to simulate a Pierce-Gate crystal oscillator.  The TI PSPICE model for the GU04 contains an error (undefined value for maxICC).  When I set maxICC=0.001A, the simulation completes but the circuit does not oscillate.  The same design works perfectly when built.  I need a real SPICE model to test my assumptions on detuning due to stray capacitance.  Thank you, Chris

  • Hi Chris,

The behavioral model you are using won't work as a linear amplifier -- only as a logic inverter.

There is an encrypted HSpice model available in the product folder that has all the required details, however I'm afraid we don't have an unencrypted pspice model that we can release that includes the MOSFET parameters -- which is what you would require for this type of simulation. Even given a good model, there's no guarantee that you're going to see oscillation in a simulation model. This type of circuit is notoriously difficult to simulate.
