Hi Team,

My customer is using our TXB0304 in their existing MP designs and are facing shortages. They are looking for a pin to pin alternative that they can consider with good supply and saw our TXB0104 that has supply in our TI Store. I just wanted to check if other than the VCCA and VCCB range is a major difference and that VCCA less than or equal to VCCB is the other, can you please check and verify if there are other key differences customer needs to consider?

The TXB0104 has a higher output impedance, which means that it cannot drive higher (capacitive) loads. You can get problem with long traces, connectors, or cables.

Hi Alfred,

To add to what Clemens has stated, this also relates to the achievable data rate. TXB0104 will have a lower maximum data rate. Depending on the types of signals and their directionality, I would also encourage you to look into the TXU0104, TXU0204, and TXU0304. Those are fixed direction devices as opposed to auto-direction sensing, but if you they are using the translator for like UART(TXU0204) or SPI(TXU0304) those would be able to accommodate that.

Hi Clemens and Dylan,

Thanks for your feedbacks! Customer is using this for a SPI Bus that needs to translate levels.

So can TXU0304 do this work? Can it do bidirectional communication? From my checking, it has fixed pins for one direction and the other pin for the other direction.

Normal SPI does have unidirectional signals. The TXU0304 is P2P only if the MISO signal uses the fourth channel.
