SN74LV541A: Required current

Part Number: SN74LV541A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3700,

Hello team,

How much current capacity is required for Vcc?

I am considering whether it can be driven by the OUTA (40mA) of TPS3700.

Regards,

Masakazu

  • Hello Masakazu-san,

I don't believe that the TSP3700 can source current at all - it has open-drain outputs and does not list any positive drive current in the datasheet.

As for the SN74LV541A operating current, the current required for Vcc will depend on the application of the device. Additionally, any device providing power must charge the required bypass capacitor for the logic device (0.1uF recommended).

With no load, the SN74LV541A requires up to 20uA for bias. When loaded, the device can drive up to 70mA total at the outputs (combined) based on the absolute maximum rating of the device. Each switching event additionally requires some transient current which will be drawn from the bypass capacitor.

  • Hello Emrys-san,

Thanks to the support. I understand.
