SN74LVC1GU04: SN74LVC1GU04

Part Number: SN74LVC1GU04

We are using the SN74LVC1GU04 and I have a few question about it:

  1. Can the VCC be 5V and at the input of the component the signal voltage will be 2.85V?
  2. VOH at 3V is 2.3V (min) what is the max value ?
  3. VOH at 2.3V is 1.9V (min) what is the max value?
  4. In the first page it wrote that “Inputs Accept Voltages to 5.5 V” does it mean it 5.5V tolerant (which mean I can use VCC of 2.5V and the input signal can be 5.5V)?

  •  As far as I am aware, the only practical application of an unbuffered inverter is to build a crystal oscillator, where the input signal is a sine wave. But that signal would be centered about the switching threshold, which is near 2.5 V. What is your application?

The maximum VOH is VCC. It also depends on the output current.

The input indeed is overvoltage tolerant.

  • My application is a square wave around 2.85V.

The VCC to the SN74LVC1GU04 should be 2.5V is it OK.

Does the SN74LVC1GU04 is 5.5V tolerant which mean I can use VCC of 2.5V and the input signal can be 5.5V?

  • Can the VCC be 2.5V and at the input of the component the signal voltage will be 2.85V?

  • What does "around 2.85 V" mean? Is this the center, or the high voltage?

The input signal can be above VCC.

Why are you using an unbuffered inverter?

  • Hi Shay,

This device has no positive input clamp diode therefore this device can handle input voltages from 0 to 5.5 V regardless of VCC. Please see this FAQ for more details. As long as VCC is within the 1.65V to 5.5V range this device will work.

    Regards,

    Sebastian

  • Hi Shay,

    1. Can the VCC be 2.5V and at the input of the component the signal voltage will be 2.85V?

Yes. The inputs can be up to 5.5V, independent of VCC.

    2. VOH at 3V is 2.3V (min) what is the max value ?

    VCC

    3. VOH at 2.3V is 1.9V (min) what is the max value?

    VCC. See question 2 above.

    4. In the first page it wrote that “Inputs Accept Voltages to 5.5 V” does it mean it 5.5V tolerant (which mean I can use VCC of 2.5V and the input signal can be 5.5V)?

    Yes. See question 1 above.
