PWM Generator through SPI communication

Hello all,

Looking for an IC that can provide interface to my MCU over SPI protocol and is able to generate PWM signals.

Additionally, PWM intensity control is a necessity (Duty cycle control).
Frequency  selection is a good have feature/

Output side Voltage level can be 3.3V or 5V I am okay with both. on SPI side has to be 3.3V.

  • There might be a LED driver with these features, but I have not been able to find one.

Nowadays, this is solved with a microcontroller.

  • Hi,

I can confirm none of our clocking devices would generate PWM as you ask.

Are you open to rolling your own using an MSP430?  Is has PWM outputs and you could have it read SPI in and generate PWM.

However - you might post on the motor drivers forum.  This would be the closest area I think to have SPI --> PWM.
