Hi Experts,
My customer is reaching out me for SPI buffer recommendation. They are using TOSHIBA TC74VCX541FT driving the 3m coaxial cable to realize the SPI communication with 2 PCBs. Due to the limited interface number on PCBs, LVDS cannot be applied.
Currently, the issue on customer side is the propagation delay mismatching corrupts the SPI communication. You can refer to the pics below for the details. With 10cm cable, the rising edge of the MOSI is ahead of the rising edge of the CLK. However, with 3m cable, the rising edge of the MOSI is behind the rising edge of the CLK. This brings the communication error.
TI cross-reference-search recommended the SN74LV541A to be the replacement to the TC74VCX541FT.
So my question are:
1, Can SN74LV541A support this application and have better performance?
2, Do you have some better recommendations?
