Notification availability stock has disappeared

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2652R7

The following post explains how to be notified when stock will be available:

https://e2e.ti.com/support/logic-group/logic/f/logic-forum/1018654/faq-how-do-i-set-up-a-ti-com-device-re-stock-notification?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=TI.com%20device%20re-stock%20notification#

But the notification link has disappeared for ALL the TI parts.

The inventory situation of electronics components is still very tense everywhere obviously - as of Mid 2022 - but it's very difficult to be kept in the dark especially when you are a small player.

Can TI put in place a system to give a little bit of visibility what is the lead-time at least for the "commodity" parts such as for instance the SN74..., TLV7..., CC.... (by opposition to the more complicated or expensive parts such as the advanced processors for which I understand that it could be more difficult to give estimates)?

  • The notification link is available (for me) after having done the "Log in to view inventory" thing.

  • Hello Gregoire,

E2E is for technical/engineering design issues.  The Customer Support Center (https://ticsc.service-now.com/csm) is the proper place to address this issue.  I have asked CSC to contact you directly.  Please let me know if you don’t hear from CSC within the next business day.

    Regards,

    ~Leonard

  • No, the problem is still there.

    - CSC has not provided any acceptable answer.

    - CSC is not the place to talk about this issue. This issue SHOULD BE PUBLIC. As I explained, I'm aware of the current situation of the world (sic !!!), but TI doesn't seem to make any strong effort to clarify its inventory. Removing the website notification is just the n-th example of that.

    - Note that your CEO has been shouted out multiple times during earning calls by financial analysts about the shortage situation and how the TI inventory is evolving. There is absolutely no clarity about how the situation is handled.

    - I have emailed dozens of VPs/directors/product managers with a similar message and request: NOT one has answered!!!

Bottom-line, you are not answering my question and right now, it's darker and darker for "small" buyers to get some perspective how TI inventory is going to change in the coming months. And there is no way to EVEN get notification when parts are available again.... ALL WRONG.

  • I'm still waiting for a real answer to this problem. What are the efforts made by TI to give information to the "low-volume" customers (a few thousands pieces for each order) about parts availability in those trouble times? This forum thread should be raised to high-level VP and SVP because it's a major issue that TI is facing and doesn't seem to really address.

  • Just to continue as nobody at TI seems to really care ;-), here is a very interesting example:

On Sunday May 15 at 4pm, I have received an Octopart notification that CC2652R7 had 2500 parts in stock. I immediately went to the TI website and the "supposedly" stock was already gone...

    Two options:

    A) Somebody already came and seized the stock. On a Sunday, in 5 minutes, I don't believe it.

    B) Octopart was dreaming about a stock that has never existed but I doubt that Octopart invented anything...

In any case, there was no TI notification on this part as the feature is website-scope disabled.

PS: I can't wait for the TI representative to post a solution to this thread stating that TI doesn't endorse what Octopart is notified!!!

  • Hello Gregoire,

While I do not have an answer to the issues you have raised, I do want you to know that TI does indeed care about all customers.  I understand your frustration experiencing this parts ordering situation, and there are people working toward an improved ordering solution.

    Thank you for your patience,

    ~Leonard

  • I was doing a little bit of provocation with my emotional comment.

More seriously, there are REAL problems here.

    1) Such notification is critical especially during those trouble supply days... It's not normal that it's going to take months to repair this critical feature.

    2) Can anyone explain how Octopart is notified of a most likely false stock inventory? Does it mean that all TI stock inventory reported by Octopart is completely false.
