TXB0104: TXB0104

Part Number: TXB0104
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXS0101, TXS0104E, TXS0108E, TXU0304

Facing issue with TXB0104 IBIS model while SI analysis in Hyperlynx tool.

This model is not providing the proper output signal as driver.

  • Hi Naveen,

Can you elaborate more on the issues you are facing, I have no info on the configuration of your model.

  • Actually am using TXS0104ERGYR in my design for level shifting JTAG 25 MHZ from 3.3 V to 1.8 V. For SI analysis as IBIS model is not available for TXS0104ERGYR i would like to use a similar model for SI Analysis. So, I have chosen TXB0104 part for analysis.

While working TXB0104 in analysis, The Output model selectors  TXB0104_IO_A_33/18/25/15A  as drivers generating the improper signals as shown in below image. But with TXB0104_IO_A_OS_12A/15A/33/18/25 results in proper output.

what is the difference bwn TXB0104_IO_A_33 and TXB0104_IO_A_OS_33.

Is there any IBIS model available with approximate timing specifications of TXS0104ERGYR .

  • TXB and TXS devices use entirely different architectures.

The TXS0101 has an IBIS model. But the TXS is a passive switch, so the only information in that IBIS model is about the ground/power clamps. (The TXS edge accelerators have a short timeout and thus cannot be correctly modelled with IBIS.)

  • Thankyou!

That's fine about TXS.                                                                                                                                                                                                                     And could you please address the TXB IBIS issue stated above with different model selectors.

  • The TXB cannot be used for JTAG.

The "OS" models are for output pins when the one-shot is active. This happens only for a few nanoseconds, so the only useful application for this is to check whether the output edges are fast enough.

  • Thankyou!

my requirement is to translate 25 Mhz, Push-pull cmos signals.

Can i use the TXS0104ERGYR for JTAG 25MHZ?

As TXS0104ERGYR is designed for Open drain application can we use same IC for high speed signals of 25 MHZ.

  • The TXS0104E goes only up to 24 Mbps. For higher speeds, use the TXS0108E.

The TXS devices have internal pull-up resistors, so they do not work when you need a pull-down.

  • Hey Naveen,

I recommend the TXU0304 device for JTAG. It shares the same pinout as the TXS/TXB0104 devices and is more suitable to the unidirectional signals of JTAG. The IBIS model for that device will be more applicable since it uses the traditional buffered architecture you are likely used to.
