There is no practical difference, except for some packages.

I guess they exist for compatibility with competitiors' part numbers.

As Clemens stated these are the same devices just offered in different packages. They do exist for compatibility with a competitors part number.

SN74LVC1G74: DCT, RSE, DCU, DQE Packages

SN74LVC2G74: YZP, DCT, DCU Packages

I found there is no electrical difference between 1G74 & 2G74. What's more, they may use the same die.
