Hi Team,

Is our device the CD74HCT688 slower than the 74FCT521ATSOG from Renesas ?

My customer is looking for a replacement and they asked me if ours is slower than the Renesas device.

If it is slower do we have anything which with the same speed?

    Hi Alex,

    If you want to compare two devices, just open the datasheets and look at the values.

    Max delay of our device is 42ns and theirs is 7.2ns, so there's a large difference in speed with the 74FCT521 being faster.

    The best option from TI for a direct replacement is the SN74F521.

    The speed is not identical, but the performance is comparable to the Renesas device.

    HC indeed is slower than FC.

    The fastest replacement would be the SN74F521, but as a bipolar device, it has a very high power consumption.
