In my current design,

I need to translator HDMI's LVCMOS33 Data output to LVCMOS25 for input of Virtex-6 FPGA.

I want to use SN74CBTLV3861 to serve as level convertor

But I don't know that what is the max data rate of SN74CBTLV3861

HDMI output clk's frequency may be above 150MHz,

so I wonder if SN74CBTLV3861 is OK for this application.

or are there other chip suitable to be 3.3V --> 2.5V 's level convertor??

Hi Zan

The CBTLV will not work. it will not translate.

SN74CB3T3383 SN74CB3T3384

These will translate down to Vcc and accept 3.3V inputs. Set VCC to 2.5V and your inputs can be 3.3V

Why CBTLV do not work in the case of 3.3V->2.5V signal translation?

How about the max data rate?

Why the data rate is not mentioned in datasheet of TI's FET BUS Switch ?

and How about the output skew of FET BUS Switch, for example SN74CB3T3383??

And

Is it OK if I use SN74AVC8T245 to translate signal form 3.3V->2.5V or 2.5V->3.3V?

it seem able to do it because that SN74AVC8T245's data rate is 320Mbps and it is a dual-power.

CBTLV will have rail to rail output. That means that signal level that goes in is what comes out. CB3T is made for down translation. It will tranlate down to Vcc. Since both are switches they will have high bandwidth.200Mhz to 500Mhz depending on the type of switch. see appnote

CBT-C, CB3T, and CB3Q Signal-Switch Families

Since these are switches they will have almost no skew. They aslo have no drive.

The AVC8T245 will also work. These are buffers and will have drive. since they are buffers they will have some skew usually less then 250ps.
