SN74LV1T86: About power consumption questions...

Part Number: SN74LV1T86
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXU0101, SN74LXC1T45

Dear Sirs,

May I have your comments for the below questions of SN74LV1T86?

The Vcc =5V, input A=3.3V, and input B=5V, output Y=0V.

1. As customer spec. the Max. Icc should be 1.5mA, right?

2. if customer wants to get as small as possible of current, such as 1uA, how to do it? Should the Vin be the same as Vcc or GND?

All concerns are for the whole system's power consumption, if our understanding is wrong, please help to advise which parameter we should pay attention to.

Thanks.

  • 1. Yes, the worst-case current is 1.5 mA. However, the typical current is much lower; the left curve below shows the characteristics of an LV1T input with a 5.0 V supply:

(Ignore the right curve; it's for devices without level shifting.)

    2. If you care about the worst case, you indeed need an input signal near VCC. This might require a level shifter with two supplies, e.g., TXU0101, SN74LXC1T45.
