CD4068B: power supply problem

Part Number: CD4068B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LVC2G07, SN74LVC07A

Hi,

I want to know whether the signal of 3.3V can be processed normally when 5V supplies power to this chip?

Is there any new 8-way and door product you can recommend?

Many thanks~

  • No, 3.3 V signals do not work with a 5 V supply. And there is no fully compatible device.

What function do you actually need?

  • Is there any new 8-way and door product you can recommend?

    Hi Rhea,

If I understand correctly, you are looking for an 8-input AND gate. We do not currently make any of those, but you can use open-drain buffers to create this function fairly easily.

    Here is an example:

This circuit shows a 3-channel open-drain buffer being used as a 3-input AND gate. You can connect as many buffers as you need to the same circuit, still only using one pull-up resistor (recommend 10kohm for most cases). This will provide the same function as an 8-input AND gate.

You can use 2x SN74LVC07A for up to 12 inputs, or you can use one SN74LVC07A plus one SN74LVC2G07 for exactly eight channels using the minimum space.

With the open-drain devices, you can connect the outputs to any voltage you prefer (up to 5.5V) - so you can power the device from 3.3V, have 3.3V inputs, and convert to 5V at the output.
