SN74HC595B: Thermal Pad connection

Why has the data sheet not been updated to indicate that the thermal pad should be connected to ground? It's been over 6 years since ShreyasRao put in a request to update the datasheet.

I only stumbled upon the answer on this forum by accident.

Hi Matt,

I'm afraid I cannot tell you what happened to Shreyas's request, because I do not know. Updating a datasheet is a long and complex process, so there are many places where it may have 'broken down' along the way.
