TXS02326A: What are specific use cases for the external clock input?

Part Number: TXS02326A

I'm trying to understand if my application will benefit in any way from the external clock. I understand that an external clock can offer higher stability, precision, and the ability to sync multiple devices. It looks like this device operates through the full range of temperature without it and I don't need to sync multiple of these devices on a board.

Can you provide real or theoretical examples of when customers need to implement an external clock, or benefitted from an external clock in some way for this part?

  • The CLK input is not related to the SIM clocks (which are required to be between 1 MHz and 5 MHz).

As far as I can see, the 32 kHz clock is used only for debouncing. So even with the very loose tolerances of the internal clock source (±20 %), it probably does not matter. But if you happen to have a suitable clock signal available, there's no reason not to use it.
