SN74AVC8T245: Simulating IBIS model in HyperLynx

Part Number: SN74AVC8T245

Hello forum,

new to the whole simulation task and still learning a lot everyday.

I was simulating a track in the multiboard project I was tasked to analyze and I mistakenly did not configure correctly the input of the level shifter ic mentioned, while the output had expected levels.

I dug deeper and saw that no matter what the signal at the input of the IC looks like, the output remained the same.

Is this a peculiarity of this particular ibis model not being able to do this or are all IBIS models inherently to be considered as black boxes where inputs are to be considered phisical models of loads but are in no way connected to the output?

In the picture you can see the simulation, where pink ( two exactly superimposed traces) are the outputs of the simulation when at the input of the lvl shifter we have the green lines, which clearly cross the threshold with very different slopes and at different times.

  • Hello Aldo,

Can you share the simulation circuit used in HyperLynx? Additionally, can you also try the SN74AXC8T245 IBIS model in your setup? The AXC family has updated IBIS models. Curious if this is a model or setup issues.

    Regards,

    Josh

  • Hey!

Yes, the circuit is not really confidential since its just a mockup of the real projecte, more like a test on the signal integrity of the differential lines i would have around, you should find it attached somewhere here or in the original post.

TOmorrow i will also try the model you suggested, only thing i have to say is that i already tried with the 74avc8t from nexperia since they also provide a model for it but with the exact same result, input and outputs were completely incorrelated.

  • Hello Aldo,

I don't see the attached file you mentioned. Can you convert it into a Zip and try again? This usually does the trick.

If this issue has been seen in other models, then it could be a setup issue.

    Regards,

    Josh

  • Hello Aldo,

Since we have not heard from you, I will assume you have resolved this issue. Therefore I will close this thread. If you have any additional questions, please open another E2E thread. Thank you!

    Regards,

    Josh
