Fw: Question on SN74AUP3G17 in RSE(QFN) footprint

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AUP3G17

Hello,

I have just tested a new DLP board featuring some SN74AUP3G17 parts. We selected the RSE fooprint, and following component datasheet we designed the net connections:

Unfortunatelly, after board testing, I've found that input/output pins are inverted: e.g., channel 1 input is at pin 1 and output at pin 7. Sadly, I have to say that datasheet is old as March 2010 so it looks unusual do not fix a datasheet error after a such long time.

Our board assembler shop bought parts from CE Global Sourcing AT, and again, it should be expected that CE Global Sourcing should be notified about datasheet error so to advise the purchaser. Moreover, just to let you know, all AUP3G family is showing the same wrong RSE pinout.

Now, I do not know if our failinbg parts are coming from a "gray market" or if datasheet is tricky. So, please, let me know as soon as possible as we have to fix board or change board connections. Thanks,

Best regards,

Massimo.

  • Dear all,

it looks as the issue is very simple: on the maket (and I do not talk about "gray" market) it loks as there are some wrong parts. We bought some devices from AVnet US (that is one recommended TI supplier) and we found the same I/O problem, while samples from Texas are working fine... Below you have an Xray view of the correct part from Texas (right up pin is pin #1):

and here one Xray view of the wrong part (left bottom pin is pin #1):

As you can see I/O is inverted...

  • The datasheet for this device shows the correct pinout for the RSE package.
