Logic Gates Failure Modes

I realize the failure rates on most of the TI logic gate IC's is very low, so there may be limited data on this subject.  But if a failure were to occur in one of the logic gates, would the output most likely be Shorted to Ground, Shorted to Vcc, or Open?  Just trying to validate some failure analysis I did on my circuit.
