Dear Sirs

I'd like to know the capacitance value that can be directly connected to the output terminal of SN74LVC8T245.

According to the data sheet,the maximum charge/discharge current of the output is +/-50mA(continuous),but I think it is unnecesary if the capacitance value is small.

Also,If I connect a 0.01uF cap directly to the output,do I need a current limiting resistor?

The limit is about 70 pF.

A capacitor of 10000 pF is too large, so you need a current-limit resistor.

So,current limit is 50mA max,resistor is over 100ohm.Is that right?

Yes, 5 V / 50 mA = 100 Ω. (The typical LXC output impedance at 5 V is less than 10 Ω, so you can ignore it.)
