SN74HCS126: reducing shoot-through current by schmitt-trigger input

Hi,

I think the following image(showed on p1 of SN74HCS244 D/S) seems a schmitt-trigger input will be able to reduce shoot-through current.

but the description on page2 in following app note doesn't say schmitt-trigger inputs can reduce Icc.

https://www.ti.com/lit/an/scea046a/scea046a.pdf

Are general schmitt-trigger inputs effective for reducing shoot-through current?
or only schmitt-trigger inputs on HCS series can achieve it?

Any advice would be very appreciated.

Thanks,

Go

  • The image on p. 1 is wrong. Figures 6-3 and 6-4 show that the Schmitt-trigger inputs do not reduce the shoot-through currents:

If you want to avoid shoot-through currents, you would need to use a comparator (with would have higher idle current consumption).
