My customer is considering SN74ALS240ANSR and SN74ALS240A-1NSR and has a question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

SN74ALS240NS is discontinued and we are considering SN74ALS240ANSR and SN74ALS240A-1NSR

Could you please let us know the difference.

PCN 2-0205/20230830000

In the PCN is recommended SN74ALS240A-1NSR.

On the other hand, we cannot find any difference in the datasheet between SN74ALS240ANSR and SN74ALS240A-1NSR.

The PCN recommendation is wrong.

P. 1 of the datasheet says:

The -1 version of SN74ALS240A is identical to the standard version, except that the recommended maximum I_OL for the -1 version is 48 mA.

I understand the difference between SN74ALS240ANSR and SN74ALS240A-1NSR.

SN74ALS240A-1 has a maximum IOL of 48mA.

I'll share this information with the customer.
